Google Assistant Gets Proactive

Google is rolling out a brand-new feature for Assistant on Android and iOS today. The virtual assistant’s latest feature, a visual snapshot, helps you stay on top of your day.

Assistant’s visual overlay works by fetching all the information you may need throughout the day into a single page. It’s almost like a central hub for your day-to-day tasks, letting you take actions automatically without having to manually ask Assistant. The feature will show you all your events for the day, travel times, restaurant or movie reservations, favorite stocks, packages, and more.

The new feature, accessible through the new icon in the top right corner of Assistant, also integrates with third-party apps like Spotify, to present a range of different actions you can take. Google is also working on bringing integration for services like Todoist, Bring!, Any.do, and Google Keep in the near-future. It will even proactively notify you about things like packages, upcoming bills, etc.

Google Assistant’s visual snapshot is going to be really useful for users, even though it’s not really new and Google had a similar feature for Google Now. Even Cortana has a similar feature, albeit not as powerful as Google Assistant.
