Tips and picks

Tip of the week: Free Kindle books!

In celebration of World Book Day, Amazon is offering nine Kindle e-books of translated fiction for free. Side-tip: Audible versions can be had for ~$2.99 too.

Plus: Reminder that Games with Gold games Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Dead Space 2 are now free

App pick of the week: Chrome 66

Now with the ability to block auto-playing videos on the web.

Also: Windows Defender add-in for Chrome

Enterprise pick of the week: Azure Security Center

Another RSA announcement from Microsoft this week: Azure Security Center gets even more capabilities. Visibility/governance at the organization level (instead of subscription level); security configuration integrated into VM experience; separate identity and access management section; just-in-time VM access; integration with Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection; integration w. third-party security products like McAfee & more.

Enterprise pick No. 2 of the week: Microsoft Translator offline language packs

Microsoft Translator offline language packs now enhanced with AI! (Just in time for Leo to go to Japan). For iOS, Android, and Windows (Windows still to come). Significantly better offline translation thanks to better machine translations.

Beer pick of the week: Mikkeller Henry Hops

Mikkeller just opened a mega beer bar at NY’s Citi Field. They have a TON of taps and it’s also open on non-game days.  Meanwhile, they also have some of their more basic beers in cans (for the ballpark and elsewhere), including Henry Hops – a decent, basic IPA.
