The Next iPhones Will Come in Too Many Colors

Apple is set to launch new iPhone devices sometime around September. The company is expected to launch three new iPhone devices this year — a refreshed 5.8-inch iPhone X, a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone with slim bezels, and a larger 6.5-inch OLED display iPhone with dual-SIM support. All the new iPhones will sport a design similar to the current iPhone X, though the LCD variant (and likely the 5.8-inch variant) is expected to lack dual-camera system.

According to a new report from 9to5Mac based on data from reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is going to add a bunch of color options with this year’s iPhones. The $1000 6.5-inch iPhone will come in a new gold variant, along with the usual black (Space Grey) and white (Silver) finishes. But the smaller, $700 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, will come in blue, red, and orange, plus the Space Grey and Silver variants.

That’s a lot of colors and options for consumers. Apple likely won’t charge different prices for the different colors, but the new colour options should be welcome by most consumers, mainly because it will make their own device look different from everyone else’s. Some could have trouble making a purchase because of all the different color options, though that shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

If the report does end up becoming true, this will be the first time Apple is launching an iPhone with so many color options right off the bat. The company’s iPhone 5C launched in a lot of different colors, and this year’s 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be the same, too. It will be interesting to see, however, if the red variant is PRODUCT(RED) like the special edition iPhone 8.

They should offer a cheaper version that just has the color on the front for those who always use a case anyway.

In reply to cseafous: The front is either black or white and it is dependent on the back color. You can't for example get a space grey phone with a white bezel (for those with some vestigial bezels). What little back color you see these days from the front, is almost always covered by any case to begin with.

The SE model is overdue for an update, I could see them merging the smaller size iPhone and SE model into a single product to simplify their lineup. Maybe even drop the iTouch line and just sell kids devices capable of cellular data as a software-enabled option.

I'm all for it. I'm so damn bored with Apple I bought a Galaxy S9+ the other day and am now rocking it as my daily driver. I LOVE the ability to change so many things, and the open-ness of Android reinforces my opinion as to how stale the iPhone has gotten. I would like to see, at the very least, Apple offer multiple colors across their product line. Make it fun and whimsical again.

Misleading headline (again) as you think most consumers will view this as a good thing
