Apple Launches New Spring Flavoured iPhone Cases and Apple Watch Bands

This week has been all about new Apple hardware. On Monday, we got the new iPads, followed by the new iMacs on Tuesday, and the new AirPods toady. But the AirPods weren’t the only thing Apple launched today. The company is updating its lineup of iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands with some new Spring-flavoured colorways today, as reported by MacRumors.

Apple’s regular silicon cases for the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max are getting the new Spearmint, Papaya, and Delft Blue colors, while the Smart Battery Case for the iPhone Xs is now available in a Pink Sand option. That case was only previously available in boring white and black finishes, so the addition of Pink Sand adds some actual color to the lineup.

As for the leather cases, Apple is also introducing the leather cases for the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max in Sunset and Lilac, while the Leather Folio cases are getting Cornflower and Lilac finishes as well.

And if you own an Apple Watch, there are a bunch of new bands coming out today. The Apple Watch Sport bands are getting the new Spearmint, Delft Blue, and Papaya colors like the iPhones. Sport Loop is getting new Papaya, Cerulean, Spearmint, and Lilac finishes, while the Nike Sport Band is getting Black/Hyper Grape, Spruce Fog/Vintage Lichen, and Teal Tint/Tropical Twist colors.

The other Nike Sport Loop bands are coming out in Spruce Fog, Teal Tint, Hyper Grape, Summer White, and Black colors as well. Plus, the Modern Buckle bands are getting the new Cornflower, Lilac, and Sunset colors, too. And last but not least, the expensive Hermès bands are coming out in a bunch of new colorways: Rose Sakura/Craie/Argile Swift Leather Double Tour, Bleu Lin/Craie/Bleu du Nord Swift Leather Double Tour, and Etoupe Swift Leather Double Tour.

Oof.

That’s a lot of cases and bands. Apple usually announces these along with new hardware at major events, but because the company wants to focus entirely on its new TV streaming service, it’s only announcing the new hardware through blog posts. In fact, there isn’t even an official announcement for all these new cases and bands.

I can't remember a time when Apple didn't announce this many announcements. I wonder if they're rethinking their stodgy and overstuffed keynotes or if the next keynote is just a poor fit for all this hardware and accessory updates. I mean, yes, phones cases, big deal, but – they didn't announce two brand new ipad models!? And the airpods – which is a major product based on Apple itself – didn't get an announcement for a major feature release (Siri and wireless charging boxes).

Geat Steven's ghost! It's unheard of!?

In reply to solomonrex:

My HOPE is that this means their TV/News event is stuffed on those topics. As someone who watches more TV than I should probably event, these announcement are what I’ve been waiting for for years now, and Apple TV has always been relegated to the summary sliders in the first few minutes.
