Apple Powerbeats Pro Available for Preorder This Friday, Available a Week Later

Apple quietly revealed today that its Powerbeats Pro wireless earphones will cost $250 and be available for preorder this Friday, May 3. They ship to customers a week later, on May 10.

“Completely re-engineered from the inside out, the earphones boast an upgraded linear piston driver that leverages an efficient, pressurized airflow to create a powerful acoustic response in a small package,” the Apple website explains. “Enhanced sound quality means incredibly low distortion and great dynamic range across the entire frequency curve.”

Apple describes its Powerbeats Pro line as “totally wireless” since its predecessor, the Powerbeats earphones, connected wirelessly to devices but each earpiece connected to each other by a wire. Like their predecessors, the Powerbeats Pro feature over-the-ear secure-fit hooks so you won’t lose them while working out, and they ship with multiple ear tips so you can find an option that works well for you no matter your ear size. In other words, unlike Apple’s vaunted AirPods, the Powerbeats Pro are comfortable and offer great sound quality.

Powerbeats Pro will ship in ivory, moss, navy, and black variants—another differentiator from the only-in-white AirPods—and will cost $250. They are sweat and water resistant, provide up to 9 hours of listening time on a charge, and support “Hey Siri” voice-activated assistance.

Does it really carry the Apple name or just the Beats name?

My AirPods after a year and a half wont take a charge anymore. No way to get new batteries….dust bin it is. I will not pay much for my next bluetooth set.

Have you tried any out-of-warranty replacement options from Apple?

Also possible that if you walk into a store and state your case, they'll just give you a gen 1 replacement. (Not sure if you're local to one.)

It's not worthwhile.

If you use your AirPods every day and run the battery down, 18 months seems about par for the battery becoming unusable. They are good for about 500 charge cycles before you really see a significant hit in battery life.

For me, AirPods sound great and for very well. They need some isolation though, especially in the gym I frequent. Hopefully they do a passable job at that. Otherwise I’m sticking with using my galaxy buds with my iPhone there.

In reply to briantlewis: Airpods work fine for me too, but they hurt my Wife's ears. She has a set of the current 'corded-wireless' Powerbeats and finds them super comfortable. She will be first in line for these. The auto pause when removing one is a big selling point for her, which AirPods have, but current Powerbeats don't.

BTW, other sites are noting that only black will be ready Friday, Other colors later. That matters to some, including the Wife.
