Slack Starts Testing Dark Mode on Mobile

Slack has started to test a new dark mode on its mobile apps this week. A dark mode has been a much-requested feature for the company’s apps, and it’s finally making its way to users.

9to5Mac reports that Slack started testing the new dark mode with beta testers on iOS, and the company is also beta testing the new dark mode with Android users.

Slack’s new dark mode can be enabled through the Settings of the app. The new dark mode isn’t a full-on black interface, and it’s more of a darker shade of gray that should still help users who are not a big fan of light/white interfaces.

At this point in time, the app doesn’t offer a feature that makes it so it automatically switches between the dark/light themes based on the time of the day.

Slack’s new dark mode should be a welcome addition for many, but bringing it to the desktop would probably make a lot more people happy. Considering Microsoft Teams had a dark mode for a while, Slack is really playing catch-up here, however.
