Actor Ryan Reynolds Buys Ownership Stake in Mint Mobile

Yep, it reads like an April Fools’ joke. But actor Ryan Reynolds has purchased an ownership stake in Mint Mobile, the low-cost wireless carrier I tested a while back.

“While every other tech titan is off chasing rockets, I’ll corner the budget-friendly wireless sector,”
Mr. Reynolds is quoted as saying of his purchase. “Like most people, I only use rockets 10-12 times a year, but I use my mobile service every day.”

According to the announcement, Ryan Reynolds purchased an ownership stake in the company because he likes Mint Mobile’s consumer-focused and unconventional approach. “Mint is making wireless way more affordable at a time when the average American is paying 65 dollars a month,” he says. “I’m excited to champion a more practical approach to the most essential technology.”

The actor, best known for his role as Deadpool in a growing series of films based on the Marvel comic, says he will help with Mint’s communications, marketing efforts, and strategic decision-making going forward.

You can learn more about Mint Mobile, which offers wireless plans for as little as $15 per month, from the firm’s website.

Ryan has actually a better track record than most actors about investing in companies. He uses his persona and online profiles very successfully to give exposure to the brands / companies he is linked to.

If this means Mint Mobile is coming to Canada…then I'm in like an oiled-up-devilishly-handsome actor in a latex suit that ends up being replaced by CGI anyway.

Maybe he can pull a John Legere and do a promoted twitter ad that will pop up every 8th tweet.

I have mint on my teens phone. It's cheap, I can bring an existing device (iPhone 8) and works very well (based in Pittsburgh). She's had it for 2 years next month. I purchased the 3GB annual plan @ approximately $180+tax for the entire year. I like that it has wifi calling too, which helps fill in any weird t-mobile coverage gaps. All in all, this is the best way to get cellular for someone and not have a large bill.
