Slack Launches Microsoft Teams Calls Integration

As promised, Slack is getting support for Microsoft Teams calls integration. The company first announced it’s working on bringing integration for Microsoft Team calls to its apps just last week, and it’s now rolling out the new integration today.

It’s not just Microsoft Teams, though: Slack is also enabling VoIP phone integration for Zoom, Jabber, RingCentral, and DialPad, in addition to WebEx, which was already available. The integration for Microsoft Teams is available as a Slack app, which, once enabled, will allow users to directly make or join calls on Microsoft Teams. The new VoIP integrations will allow users to launch calls to actual phone numbers directly from within Slack.

Slack says users will be able to set Microsoft Teams as the default calling provider as well. You will also be able to see who’s in a call and when it started using the /teams-call command.

The integration will even work with your existing calendar apps — so you will be able to join Team meetings directly from calendar reminders in Slack via Outlook or Google Calendar apps.

“As part of our ongoing work to help our customers navigate this new world of remote work, we’re adding Microsoft Teams calls as a videoconferencing integration option alongside Zoom, Cisco Webex, Bluejeans and Slack native calls. We’re also launching new integrations that enable calling phone numbers directly from Slack with Zoom Phone, Cisco Jabber, RingCentral, and Dialpad,” said Brian Elliott, VP & General Manager of Slack Platform.

Slack says the company has seen an “almost 350%” growth in calls made/received in Slack, including native Slack calls, BlueJeans, Webex, and Zoom.
