New Features, Functionality Arriving Across Microsoft 365

Microsoft has documented a long list of new features it is adding across Microsoft 365.
And yes, this is a first.

Previously, Microsoft documented its monthly additions to Office 365 only. But with the uber Microsoft 365 service gaining steam, and Windows 10 being split into other parts of the company, the software giant is going to start documenting all of Microsoft 365’s updates each month together. So that includes Office 365 plus Windows 10 and Enterprise Mobility + Security too.
Yikes.
I already found covering the monthly updates to Office 365 to be pretty difficult, and it’s only getting worse now with the other products being thrown in too. So this post will skim the highlights. If you want a complete list of this month’s updates, please refer to the original Microsoft blog post.
Anyway. Here’s (some of) what’s new.
New Ink features in Office 2016 for Windows. Office 365 and Microsoft 365 customers enrolled in the Office Insiders program will be able to access two new Ink-related features in the coming month: Ink analysis in PowerPoint 2016 and new Ink gestures in Word 2016.
AI enhancements in Word for Mac. Office 365 and Microsoft 365 customers enrolled in the Office Insiders program on Mac will soon be able to translate sections of text or entire documents from over 60 languages and use the Resume Assistant to create resumes with personalized insights powered by LinkedIn.
Mobile editing for all Microsoft 365 subscribers. Over the next few months, the full capabilities of the Office mobile apps on Android and iOS will be expanded to include Office 365 Business Essentials, Office 365 F1, and Office 365 E1 subscribers. Once that is complete, everyone with a Microsoft 365 subscription will gain full access to all of the mobile editing features in those apps.
Office 2019 Preview. As we reported previously, Microsoft has released the first Office 2019 Preview to its Office 365 commercial customers.
Outlook improvements on iOS. Outlook for iOS is picking up a number of new features in May, including Quick reply, and external content blocking. And in June, the app will pick up Favorite people, meeting events, and corporate policy support for enforcing only a single account in the app.
New security features in Microsoft 365 Business. Over the next few weeks, those with Microsoft 365 Business accounts will pick up Advanced Threat Protection, data loss prevention, and information protection capabilities.
New IT management functionality. As part of a push for a more modern desktop, Microsoft is improving the Security & Compliance Center for Microsoft 365, adding a Kiosk Browser to Windows 10 for “firstline” workers and customers, and rolling out General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) resources and tools.
There is (almost) literally a ton more. In fact, I may need to figure out a new strategy for covering this information.
