Microsoft is releasing a major new feature for Skype today: background blur. The app now provides an AI-powered feature that allows users to blur their background in video calls, focusing on themselves and hiding all the unnecessary things in the background.
The feature is similar to how background blur works in Microsoft Teams, allowing users to enable/disable the feature with a single toggle while they are in a call. The feature works for one-on-one calls, as well as group calls.

Background blur uses AI to blur the background in your video calls, and Skype says it will do its best to detect things like hair, hands, and arms while making a call to make sure the background is blurred properly. It can not guarantee that your background will always be blurred, however.
