Instagram Introduces New Type Mode in Stories

Posted on February 1, 2018 by Mehedi Hassan in Social with 2 Comments

Instagram is getting a new Type mode for its Stories feature. Type mode is an interesting addition to Instagram’s growing arsenal of features in Stories as it doesn’t require you to take a picture or a video.

Instead, Type is a mode where you can only write and share text with your followers. It lets you choose different font styles, different colors, highlight phrases, and more. The feature is meant to allow users to share whatever they want without having to take a picture of something, though the new text styles are also available for the other modes where you can add text over your photo/video.

If you have been using Facebook recently, you are probably familiar with a Type-like feature where you can add colorful backgrounds and text to your posts, and it’s possible Instagram will add something similar for regular posts in the near future. In other words, this could be the beginning of text-only posts on Instagram, making it almost exactly like its parent company Facebook. /shrugs
