At Build 2020, Microsoft is announcing the release of Windows Terminal 1.0. The new Windows Terminal has been stable to use for months, but with the release of version 1.0, Microsoft says it’s now available for enterprise use.

Windows Terminal offers a modern command-line application for Windows 10 users. It includes a tabbed interface, allowing users to switch between different terminals from the same window. You can run CMD, PowerShell, Windows Subsystem for Linxus distros, Azure Cloud Shell, and other command-line executables in Windows Terminal. Not only does the application let you have multiple tabs, but you can also have the different command-lines open side-by-side as on the screenshot above. You also get access to a number of different configuration and customization options.

“Now available for enterprise use, Windows Terminal 1.0 provides you with the ability to run any command line executable, including WSL distros and Azure Cloud Shell, inside multiple tabs, and panes. You can also use Unicode and UTF-8 characters, have a GPU accelerated text rendering engine, and custom themes, styles, and configurations,” Microsoft notes in the press release.

Windows Terminal 1.0 is available via the Microsoft Store here, and you can also download it manually from GitHub here.
