Apps Needed to Compete with iPad

As an owner of both a Surface Pro and an iPad, I have a few observations of apps that the Microsoft Store needs in order to make it a reasonable bet as a media consumer to actively choose a Windows 10 tablet over an iPad.

First, a more complete section of News apps is needed. The NY Times had an app but then removed it. The Texture magazine apps needs to return.

Second, a better selection and better performing series of movie apps needs to be developed. Some apps on Windows do not allow downloads of movies (useful on airplanes where streaming is not an option). So we need a full complement of apps from Showtime, HBO, Netflix, and Amazon Prime.

Just as an aside; do we call these apps Windows Store Apps; UWP, or Metro?
