<p>That it sends the full URL back has been known for years – at least if you have the security features turned on (Smart Screen Filter). It sends it back to the "cloud" to check against known bad URLs.</p><p>That a UID is also sent is new, at least to me. Although it depends on how the correlation is performed. Is that a transaction ID, a machine ID or an account ID?</p>
<p>I'm sure new Edge is collecting a LOT of telemetry and sending it back to MS – just like old Edge. The URL's it's sending back – which we assume is for validation, is the least of your worries. These days, if you want to browse the Internet, most of the 'big' browsers will collect stacks of info. The only one trying to push back is probably Firefox, but even Mozilla encourage you to create an account, sync bookmarks/history etc and I'm sure collect other stats for development and troubleshooting. It's a way of life these days, but I trust MS about as much as I'd trust Mark Zuckerberg (I don't use Facebook either!). True privacy on the Internet doesn't really exist.</p>
