Microsoft has gone too far this time

So Microsoft wants to develop “AI” for automated military drones to pick and choose targets automatically. Great. You know, cuz they can already design perfect computer operating systems that never fail.

Brad Smith says the US military/government will get access to “all the technology we create”. The big question I have is: does that include government access to all the source code too?

OMG. Can you just imagine MS writing the code for drones that selects and fires on targets automatically. This is just a disaster waiting to happen.

I should point out that US military policy is that a human is the one who has to make the final decision on firing and to push the firing button.

First of all that's not what the article said. The article said it could be transformed into that in the future. That part is complete speculation. Second of all look at the source. I don't think you should be trusting Russia Today for the goings on of the US military and it's subcontractors.

Everybody has a bias. I agree with you about CNN though. Once Trump leaves office those guys are finished.

I applaud the skepticism of the employees that are revolting against the executive decision on this. And RT may have a bias, but they're one of the last remaining media organizations that actually reports the news without caring if it appeases one US political party or another. They cut apart Trump and the GOP as much as they do the Democrats.

I really doubt the DOD would want the AI to work all on its own. The higher ups will always want control.

Just remember that RT is royal to Russia and Russia's main goal in the US is chaos. That's what the election meddling is about. So of course they are going to bash both sides.

That's what people are just saying they are going to do. But MS or the military never said that. It just people spreading FUD.
