Humble request for readers with astigmatism

Hi Thurrott.com team,

I am writing to humbly ask that you consider giving readers the ability to toggle the background of the Recent Stories and Articles section of the main page to a light background. I have an astigmatism. Bright text on very dark backgrounds create a halation effect for me, making text blurry and creating lots of eye strain. I correct my astigmatism with glasses, but this doesn’t completely remove the effect and eye strain. Here’s a nice article on how this impacts me; albeit, with a focus on presentation slides: https://jessicaotis.com/academia/never-use-white-text-on-a-black-background-astygmatism-and-conference-slides/.

I love that you give folks the option to choose a light or dark background on the site. I ask that you please consider having this toggle also control the background and text of the Recent Articles section. This would allow me to switch to my preferred mode–light background with darker text–and dramatically increase my enjoyment of the site, which I have gladly paid to support since a paid option was available.

Thank you for considering this request.
