Question on Posts

Are there rules around how or what we can post on here? I just tried posting an article that I thought the community would find interesting and I keep getting an error (telling me that the post I was looking for couldn’t be found?) Does anyone happen to know?

Thanks

Your post was only a link to an article on another site (links to other publications are fine) but didnt offer any reason why someone should click it or any commentary – basically it looks like link spam trying to drive traffic to a particular page.

To be clear, no one is manually removing/blocking forum posts. We have implemented a system to prevent thread spam, which has been a huge problem. But readers who have posted a forum thread in the past should be able to do so normally going forward. Will ask about this.

I am having a similar issue. If I try to create a new post, I get an error message saying the URL can’t be found. Then the post appears magically about 24 hours later. This has happened twice this week and both times my post was just text.

I can understand if the post needs to be moderated/checked for spam, but an error message saying URL can’t be found instead of saying the post is waiting for moderation gives the wrong impression.

I did open a case with help @ thurrott about it as well.
Thanks. Originally I was trying to add commentary but I kept getting the same error message. I’ll be more clear about posts in the future.

Hi.. I just did the same thing. However, I couldn’t go back and salvage my post. I’d be happy to post it without the web link BUT I don’t feel like typing it all out again…

Can it be recovered or is it totally gone?

That’s up now, right? If not, let me know.
