Minecraft is Getting a Character Creator

The beta version of Minecraft has introduced a Character Creator that lets you personalize your avatar’s body size and shape, and more.

“The Minecraft Character Creator [lets you] personalize your avatar in a number of ways, including body size and shape, limb replacement and tweaking of eyes, mouth, hairstyles, and colors, facial hair and skin tones,” a new post to the Minecraft Feedback blog notes. “More than 100 items will be available for free. There will also be a range of custom accessories, created by the Minecraft team, available for purchase The Character Creator is currently available to beta testers, but will also roll out to Minecraft Earth, as well as all other Bedrock platforms like iOS and Nintendo Switch, once the beta has concluded.”

The Minecraft Character Creator is currently available in Minecraft Beta version 1.13.0.15 on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Android. Note that switching to the beta could be problematic, however, and not just for the usual prerelease code reasons: You will lose access to Realms and will not be able to join non-beta players while you’re previewing the beta. Also, any worlds played while in the beta cannot be opened in previous versions of the game.

According to Microsoft, the Character Creator was originally developed for Minecraft Earth, but it was extended to the Bedrock version of the vanilla game due to popular request.
