Microsoft Pushes Minecraft Dungeons to Late May

Originally expected in late April, the release of Minecraft Dungeons has been pushed back to May 26 because of the Coronavirus.

“Our new action-adventure, dungeon crawler-style game is releasing worldwide on May 26 on Xbox One, Windows, Xbox Game Pass, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4,” Microsoft told me. Minecraft Dungeons will also be available for pre-order on some platforms starting today.”

Announced at X019 in November, Minecraft Dungeons was originally scheduled to ship by the end of April. “However, due to the current state of the world, this was no longer possible, as we wanted to guarantee the health and safety of our teams, and empower them to deliver the best possible experience to the community,” I was told.

Minecraft Dungeons is new action-adventure, dungeon crawler-style game that will be provided in two editions, Minecraft Dungeons – Standard Edition for $19.99 and Minecraft Dungeons – Hero Edition for $29.99. The Hero Edition contains a Hero Pass that includes a Hero Cape, two player skins, a chicken pet and two upcoming DLC packs, Microsoft says.

And yes, it will support cross-platform play, at least eventually.

“At launch, you´ll be able to play online multiplayer with friends on the same platform,” Microsoft says. “We’re working to bring cross-platform multiplayer across all platforms in the future through a free update after release.”

Looks like fun.

Another good reason to have game pass

I wonder, can you buy the DLC at a discounted rate on game pass games? (there was something about the ultimate tier and this kind of thing the other week, which feels like years ago, wasn't there?)
