Microsoft Announces a Global Launch for Xbox One X

Microsoft will launch the Xbox One X globally with both live and virtual events on November 6, the night before the video console is offered for sale.

“Xbox One X launches in less than two weeks and we’re gearing up for the biggest global launch in Xbox history on November 7,” Microsoft’s Will Tuttle writes. “Whether you’re planning to join one of the many celebrations happening the night before launch or tuning into the live broadcast to watch it unfold on Mixer, you can participate in the Xbox One X launch no matter your location.”

To be clear on the schedule, Xbox One X will be made available for sale to customers on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. But the launch events are being held the night before, on Monday, November 6, 2017. If you’re attending a live event, that means you’ll have the opportunity to purchase a console at midnight.

Here’s what’s happening.

Xbox One X Launch: Live. Microsoft will host a party at its flagship retail store on 5th Avenue in New York City on the night of November 6. “Whether you’re picking up your pre-order, placing a new order, or stopping in to experience true 4K gameplay, we’ll be handing out exclusive Xbox swag and giving you a chance to win a new Samsung QLED 4K TV,” Microsoft notes. You can find out more here.

Watch the launch event virtually. Microsoft will be broadcasting one hour of its live New York launch event, “Xbox One X Launch: Live,” via Mixer on PC, Xbox One, Android, and iOS. It starts on November 6 at 11:00 p.m. ET. You can also watch on the Xbox channel on Twitch and Xbox channel on YouTube and Facebook Live.

Microsoft Stores and other retailers. Local Microsoft retail stores across the U.S. (including Puerto Rico because Puerto Rico is part of the U.S., Microsoft), Canada, and Sydney will celebrate the launch with “giveaways, gameplay and more.” Those who pre-ordered an Xbox One X can pick it up at 9 pm PT/midnight ET. Also, over 600 Best Buy locations, GameStop stores, and EB games will open at midnight local time (in Best Buy’s case, midnight ET, so 9 pm PT) to support the launch as well.

Global events. There are also local celebrations happening around the globe, including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Check out the Microsoft blog post for details.

Has there been any success taking these devices and turning them into fully functional PC's running Windows 10 Pro? That is what these devices are … right? I would probably buy TWO if I could do this … In a New York minute.
