Forza Horizon 3 Gets Native 4K Support for the Xbox One X

Microsoft’s Xbox One X launched with the release of Forza Motorsport 7, supporting native 4K from the get-go. As promised, Microsoft is today bringing native 4K support to Forza Horizon 3 today as a completely free update for existing owners.

Forza Horizon 3 will now run at 3840×2160 on the Xbox One X with today’s update and combined with HDR support, the game should look really good on a 4K display if you are into racing games. If you have purchased the Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels expansions for Forza Horizon 3, you’ll get native 4K updates for these expansion packs today as well. In addition to the enhancements required to support for native 4K support, Microsoft has also included a bunch of other improvements to the core parts of the game in order to offer an improved experience for gamers. The update improved things like the texture detail for surfaces, shadow resolutions, and car reflection to provide a greater range of detail on your 4K display. The handy photo mode in the game is being updated to include 4K support, too.

In reply to CaymanDreamin:

Probably not, since the PC version already had these enhancements availible to it as long as you have the power to check the right boxes.

Wow, instantly noticeable difference thanks to them cranking up the quality settings like the reflections. The patch was surprisingly small, under 700MB. I'm guessing the assets were already there but the game itself needed an update to unlock them.
