PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Gets a New Map on Xbox One

Microsoft announced today that a new map, Miramar, is now available for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One. Well, at least in preview.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) on Xbox One is about to get a lot bigger and better,” PUBG’s Joonhyuk Choi explains on the Xbox Wire blog. “PUBG Xbox Game Preview players can now experience the vast, open desert of Miramar on live servers as part of our Spring update.”

PUBG’s popularity is inexplicable: This game debuted with exactly one map, one game mode, and no respawning. And the performance on Xbox One, in particular, is terrible. And yet it has performed to an amazing level, with several million people actively playing the game on Xbox One alone.

Anyway, Miramar doubles the number of maps available to PUBG players on Xbox One. It’s described as a “desert-themed map dotted with large, densely built towns, rocky hills, and wide-open expanses” and it “adds an all-new battle royale gameplay experience for players.” There’s also an assortment of new weapons and vehicles that were specially designed for the Miramar.

And if I hear one more stupid chicken dinner reference, I’m going to scream.
