Microsoft Plans to Talk Xbox Series X and xCloud Next Week

With nearly every major conference being canceled because of COVID-19, 2020 will be remembered as the year of the ‘streaming conference’. GDC has already been canceled and it looks like E3 will make an announcement today that will cancel that show as well.

But as they say in the business, the show must go on, but this time around, everything is going to be streamed including what Microsoft was going to talk about at the Game Developer Conference. The company is planning to stream its sessions next week with a newly released schedule of events.

As you would expect for an event like this, most of the content is based around Microsoft’s Game Stack services that they hope to entice developers to adopt for their next title. But it looks like the company is also planning to talk about its next-generation offerings as well.

On March 18^th, there is a session titled Xbox Series X + Project xCloud = New Chapter in Gaming, which leaves little to the imagination. The company will be streaming the content on its website and once we have the links, we will be sure to share them.

Microsoft was also planning to attend E3 and hold its own keynote where the company would talk about upcoming games, its new hardware, and many other items but with the show likely being postponed or canceled outright, the company may opt to stream that show’s event as well.

With a lack of conferences this year, it is changing up the dynamics of how company’s like Microsoft are making significant announcements. But, for a company the size of Microsoft, they have the ability to create their own waves of press; for smaller operations, the lack of tradeshows can significantly impact future operations.
