Dropbox Launches New Gmail Add-On to Make Sharing Easier

As part of its cloud partnership with Google, Dropbox is launching a new add-on for Google’s Gmail today. The new Gmail just went lie for all G Suite customers today, so the release syncs up perfectly for both the companies.

With the new Dropbox add-on for Gmail, users can easily share their files from Dropbox in emails without actually leaving Gmail. They can choose to attach a link to their files and folders on Dropbox in Gmail with the new add-on. It can also be used to preview your Dropbox files, and save attachments from an email to your Dropbox — the latter sounds pretty cool.

Partnerships like this are always welcome — especially when they benefit customers. If you are a Dropbox user and a Gmail user but don’t use Google Drive, this is a perfect example of such partnerships are so beneficial. This is the first product coming out of Dropbox’s partnership with Google Cloud, and it’ll be fascinating to see what both the companies come up with next.

Anyway, Dropbox’s Gmail add-on works for Gmail on the web, as well as the Android app. The company says it’s coming soon to iOS. You can get it here.
