YouTube Lands on the Nintendo Switch

Google today launched YouTube on the Nintendo Switch. YouTube has been one of the much-requested apps for the Switch, and it’s only the second major video service after Hulu to be available on the Switch.

YouTube’s app on the Nintendo Switch will let you watch all types of videos, and you can login to your account to access your subscriptions, your viewing history, and more. You should also be able to watch movies you purchased on YouTube. The app even supports 360-degree videos, letting you move around in the 360-degree videos with the joysticks.

The addition of YouTube on the Switch is kind of a big deal. So far, only Hulu has been available on the Switch, and there are no signs of Netflix or Amazon Prime Video as of yet. Nintendo did say the company is in talks with Amazon and Netflix for their own Switch apps, though it’s not clear what’s happening with those two major services as of yet. But now that YouTube on the Switch is a thing, Netflix shouldn’t take too long to arrive.

As much as I don't care about this, I think it makes it a better thing to give a child who you don't want having a full-fledged smartphone yet.

But that goes for most places, honestly – most media is complete crap. I was under the impression that YouTube could be filtered by parental controls, though, is that not the case?

Didn't Google say they wouldn't make a YouTube App for Windows Phone because the market share was so low? As of right now, there are 23 millions Switches out there. Hmm, guess Windows Phone never broke that number when they were on the market… /s

I wonder what the battery life is like playing youtube videos? I can never seem to break 3 hours of battery life on mine playing any game.
