Google to Start Showing More Diverse Search Results

Google is launching an interesting change to the search engine. The company today announced that the company is launching a new change that will help it serve more diverse results.

The company wants to increase the diversity of search results by showing results from different sites. In the past, you may have seen search results with multiple results from the same site in the top results. But with today’s change, Google will try to change things up by showing results from different sites.

That doesn’t mean Google will completely eliminate the chances of showing more than two listings from the same site on the top search results, the company says there are cases where it will still show more than two listings from the same site, depending on the relevancy. The same applies to search results from subdomains of a site, which will be considered a single site by search results unless there are different variables depending on the context.

Google isn’t exactly saying how the change will be rolled out, but my guess is the company will slowly roll it out over the next few months. Google tends to take its time when rolling out major changes like this, so that shouldn’t be much of a surprise.

I support anything that improves the quality of the results google offers. It will be interesting to see how the SEO content farms work around this…

If it means it stops pushing shopping opportunities, when it is obvious I have bought a product and I am looking for support for an error, that would be welcome.

Last time I searched for "Miele error F38", the first half dozen results were for buying a Miele dishwasher! If I have an error, I either need support or I won't be interested in replacing a defective machine with another from the same manufacturer!

One of the reasons I switched to other search engines over the last 2 years.
