Facebook Updates Its Portal Smart Displays With New Features

Facebook is rolling out somewhat of a major update for its Portal smart displays. Although the company’s devices haven’t been received well by the market mainly because of the privacy concerns surrounding its brand, the company is continuing to push both the Portal and the Portal+.
Today’s update brings a new web browser into the Portal, so you can browse the web and your favourite sites on the devices. The update introduces a new manual zoom mode for its smart camera, which previously had an auto-zooming feature built to focus on the subject during video calls, for example. With today’s update, you can zoom into whatever you want.

The update brings some other less useful features like a bunch of new Instant Games from Messenger, including games like Battleship, Draw Something, Sudoku, and Words With Friends, reports TechCrunch.  The company is introducing some new AR masks to the devices as well for the holiday season.
And lastly, Portal’s in-call music sharing feature that lets you listen along to music from services like Spotify with others on a call through the device now supports iHeartRadio. All the features are rolling out today.
