AMD Launches Next Radeon VII GPU, the World’s First 7nm GPU

At its first-ever CES keynote, AMD today announced the new Radeon VII GPU. The company’s new Radeon VII GPU is its second generation Vega Graphics core, with features like Async Compute, Rapid Packed Math and Shader Intrinsics.

The new GPU comes with 60 compute units, operating at up to 1.8GHz, and it’s apparently the world’s first 7 nanometer GPU. AMD claims the device will offer 25% more performance while using the same level of power. The GPU claims to offer up to 16GB of high bandwidth memory, with “industry-leading” 1tb/sec memory bandwidth.

AMD highlighted some of the key performance gains with the new Radeon VII GPU, with Battlefield getting a 35% boost in performance running at 4K and max-settings, with Fortnite getting a 25% boost. The company even showed off Devil May Cry 5 running at 4K getting more than 60fps, though that was very hard to tell on a 720p 30fps stream of the keynote.

AMD also bundle Divison 2 with the new Radeon VII GPU and some Ryzen GPUs. Radeon VII GPU will also come with Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry 5 bundled for a limited amount of time.

The new GPU will be available from February 7 for $699.
