Ahead of Microsoft’s Hardware Event, Surface Laptop 2 Inventory Runs Dry
Considering that there is a Microsoft event on October 2nd and that there is a high probability that we will see a refresh of the Surface lineup, the fact that inventory is running low on some devices shouldn’t surprise anyone.
If you head on over to the Microsoft Surface website and configure a Surface Laptop 2, most of the options are now out of stock. There are a few higher-end devices, such as a black i7 model with 16Gb of RAM still available but all of the lower-end options are now gone from inventory.

If you are still looking to pick up a Surface Laptop 2, it may be wise to wait until after the hardware event when the next generation will be announced. Further, I would bet that on Black Friday, many retailers will be offering the second generation laptop at significant discounts.
Other devices, like the Surface Pro 6, Surface Go, and Surface Book are still in stock on the website.
Rumors have been flying around about a 15in Surface Laptop being announced along with my own reports from last year that Microsoft is planning to use an AMD chip in the refresh that will be announced this year. The company also has many other, and more significant announcements lined up; the October event is panning out to be one of the biggest in the past couple of years.
We don’t have to wait too much longer to see what Panos and his team have up their sleeve. The hardware event is scheduled for October 2nd and of course, we will be there.

<p>Not to be "that guy", but out of all the configurations, there is actually one and only SKU that surprisingly still has some stock left.
