HP Announces New Envy Laptops, Mouse for Creators

HP this morning announced new Envy-branded laptops and convertible PCs aimed at the consumer creative market. There’s a new mouse, too.

“With 74 percent of creative consumers doing more creative activities during COVID, they are often participating in hobbies that require a computer for more intensive workloads like photography, live blogging, and making/editing short videos,” an HP representative told me. “The HP Envy x360 15 and HP Envy 17 are designed for the way creators are working now, giving people the freedom to create and stay connected from anywhere.”

I don't understand the branding of HP laptops: Pavilion, Envy, and Spectre. Dell's branding isn't better: Inspiron, Latitude, XPS.

I don't understand what these names convey or which version is appropriate for my needs.

In reply to basic sandbox:

Think budget, value, premium. Latitude is Dell's business class. It is confusing, but they have a properly priced PC at every price point. HP, IMO, is doing a great job with aesthetics. Even the cheaper Pavillion line looks pretty good.

In reply to basic sandbox:

As MixedFarmer75 say, different models for different budgets.

A bit like Volkswagen with its various models – Skoda, Seat, VW and Audi, in that order for price. Essentially the same car underneath, just different clothing and slightly different specs.

I doubt that many creators are using high-performance laptops on soft, fluffy shag carpets unless they're trying to get the laptop to throttle the CPU down to 15%.

…I don't think I'm the person these ads are intended to appeal to.
