Surface Studio 2 Now Available for Pre-Order in the UK

Microsoft’s Surface Studio 2, first launched in the United States back in early October 2018, is now coming to the United Kingdom. The device is now available for pre-order online from the Microsoft Store UK, as first noticed by Windows Central.

Surface Studio 2 is somewhat of a massive upgrade in terms of performance over the original Surface Studio. It comes with a 35% boost in performance and 50% better graphics, thanks to Intel’s 7th gen i7-7820HQ processor and NVIDIA’s GTX 1070 GPU with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. The device is the fastest Surface ever, according to Microsoft.

The new Surface Studio 2 also comes with an improved display — in fact, it’s now 38% brighter and produces 22% more contrast.

In the UK, the Surface Studio 2 starts at a whopping £3,549 for the base model with the GTX 1060, 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. For £4,249 you can get 32GB of RAM with the GTX 1070. And for £4,749 you can get 2TB of storage, 32GB RAM, and the GTX 1070.

But if you do pre-order the device now, you will get a free pair of Surface Headphones which usually costs £329.99. And that’s a pretty good deal as long as you can get over the £3,549 pricing. Pre-orders ship on February 7.

I also got the email for Germany yesterday.

Edit: And at least it "only" comes with an SSD this time, they seem to have learnt that lesson, but probably one of the reasons for the steep starting price.

I get this device is all about the screen, but as it's non user-expandable, the base model seems pretty pointless. All-in-all, an eye wateringly expensive device that's probably for rich pro's only, so that excludes 99.999% of everyone else, but would those pro's actually chose this over a Mac?
