Outlook Introduces In-App Do Not Disturb Mode on IOS

Microsoft is releasing a new feature for Outlook on iOS this week. Outlook’s mobile apps get a lot of frequent updates, and this is no different.

With the latest update, Microsoft is introducing a new, integrated Do Not Disturb mode on the app. The new feature means you can now forget about all the email notifications and focus a little more on your life whenever you need to.

Microsoft actually first announced the feature back in June 2018, though it’s only now releasing the feature on iOS. Do Not Disturb only works with Office 365 and Outlook.com accounts, so if you have a Gmail account, you won’t be able to use this new feature for some reason.

The feature is pretty easy to access — there’s a new notification bell next to your email account on the navigation pane now, and clicking on it will take you to the Do Not disturb options. From there, you can set Do Not Disturb to stay on till you turn it off, or turn it on for an hour, or keep it on till the next day. You can also schedule Do Not Disturb automatically — during work hours, during evenings, or during weekends, for example.

The feature is actually pretty useful considering iOS doesn’t offer per-app Do Not Disturb settings. But it would be nice to have the feature work for all accounts, instead of being limited to Outlook and Office 365 accounts. That way, you’d also be able to set the Do Not Disturb mode for all your accounts at once instead of having to set it for all your accounts individually.

And it doesn't appear to work with on-premise Exchange, either, which stinks.
