OnePlus will launch its next flagship smartphones, the OnePlus 7T series, next week via a virtual event. But CEO Pete Lau has revealed the final design of the OnePlus 7T Pro handset ahead of the launch. (OnePlus will likely announce a less expensive OnePlus 7T next week as well.)
“Our brand new design with 4th generation matte-frosted glass,” Mr. Lau tweeted this morning, linking to a OnePlus forum post in which the firm explains the design.
“No detail is too small to be perfected,” the post reads. “When you look at the back of a phone, the camera is perhaps the first thing that attracts your attention. It’s an incredibly important piece of the design puzzle, so we’ve completely reimagined the camera housing for our upcoming flagship. The camera should make a bold visual statement, but also flow naturally with the overall design for a seamless appearance.”
According to the company, the OnePlus 7T Pro design offers perfect symmetry from any orientation and elegantly balances the phone’s triple-lens camera system. It’s the result of over 50 design iterations.
I hope that OnePlus dramatically improved the quality of the photos one can take with this handset: Its previous flagship, the OnePlus 7 Pro, is otherwise nearly perfect.
