Google Fi Offers an Unlimited Plan Now

Google has launched an Unlimited plan for Google Fi that also provides 100 GB of cloud storage and other benefits.

“Since Fi’s launch in 2015, we’ve had one plan, the Fi Flexible plan, that gives you the flexibility to pay for just the data you use,” Google’s Dhwani Shah announced. “As we’ve grown, we’ve heard that many of you want the simplicity and predictability that comes with paying the same price each month. So today, for the first time ever, Fi is adding a second plan: our Google Fi Unlimited plan.”

The Google Fi Unlimited plan costs $70 per month for one line—there are options for up to 6 lines as well—and unlimited data, calls, and texts, including the same great international support as before. There are additional perks, too, including 100 GB of cloud storage, “expert support across Google, discounts on Google products, and more.”

But there is an asterisk on the data: Google will reduce your speed after you’ve hit 22 GB in any given month, and it may “optimize” video streaming down to 480p. Google says this will impact less than one percent of its current userbase.

Based on Fi’s pricing scheme, the Unlimited plan will only make sense if you consistently use over 4 GB of data every month: Google charges $10 per 1 GB plus $20 for calls and texts.

Google is also offering a one-day half-off sale on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL when you purchase and activate on Google Fi. Or while its supply of phones lasts.

At $45 / per person for 4 people, that is about $30 more than ATT unlimited plan that I am paying.

I really would like to move to GoogleFi but they still can't touch my pricing + perks via T-Mobile. I have 3 unlimited lines for $115 and I get MLB.tv for free every year.

That is a big mountain to scale value wise.

In reply to rmlounsbury:

I am on the TMO 55 and older plan – 2 lines unlimited data, voice, texting and international roaming to many countries for data and text. I pay $60 and can add a 3rd line for $10 more.

Unlimited but we throttle you after a certain threshold should be illegal.

In reply to jwpear:

I don't disagree but the carriers don't ever say unlimited full bandwidth… Just unlimited data with no claim of performance.

Is unlimited hotspot included?

Or do I have to pay extra to use the data I already paid for on whatever device I want.

I don't get the pricing for these plans, generally speaking most things in the USA are cheaper than back here in the UK but mobile data plans seem completely the opposite, or is there something in these plans that I'm missing?

I'm on a 40gb data plan no throttling unless I go over the 40gb, I never have btw and 1,000 texts and unlimited voice calls for £25, about $28, not an unusual type of plan here and if I searched hard enough I'm sure I could get better priced deal.

What are you getting included with these plans that we're not, is your home land-line and fibre Internet bundled in that price for example as $70 seems ridiculously expensive.

In reply to Simard57:

In its ideal form, Google Fi allows use of 3 different cellular networks – Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular – depending on which has the best service. Also can make calls over WiFi, say if the phone is in a building with unusably weak cell service.
