Apple Releases iOS 11.3 With New Battery Management Features, Animoji

Apple is releasing iOS 11.3 to all supported iOS devices. As seen in the preview, iOS 11.3 brings new Animoji for iPhone X users, as well as a couple of other new features.

iOS 11.3’s main new feature is the new battery management features. After it was discovered that Apple intentionally throttles older iPhone devices in order to offer improved performance for users, the company announced it’ll be adding new features that give users more control over their device’s battery life. With iOS 11.3, users can completely disable the throttling and get more insights into their battery health to find out if a battery replacement is required.

iOS 11.3 also expands iMessage’s collection of 12 Animojis by adding four new Animoji: a dragon, bear, skull, and lion on the iPhone X. In addition to new Animoji, iOS 11.3 brings new Business Chat features to iMessage which enables users to directly chat with businesses and purchase products right from the Messages app.

Apple is also updating Apple Health, Music, News apps with iOS 11.3 and introducing ARKit 1.5 with iOS 11.3. The updated version of AR Kit is now able to detect and place objects on vertical surfaces, which is a huge step forward for Apple’s AR platform. All these new features, including some other minor features, are now available to all supported iOS devices with iOS 11.3.

<p>A significant and much needed improvement over previous versions of iOS 11. It’s stable, fast and smooth. Don’t need the battery option, but the bug fixes and performance improvements are very welcome. ARKit 1.5 should make for some interesting AR app upgrades as well.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Would have been nice if this was the version they launched with last fall. But it’s a nice step in the right direction and makes using iPhone X what it should have been like from the start.</p>

<p>I'm surprised Paul left out the introduction of PWA support, given how excited he is for the technology to be introduced into Windows. Apple supporting in Safari (even if incomplete) is a big step forward for Progressive Web Apps.</p><p><br></p><p>"<span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.84);">With iOS 11.3, Apple has silently added support for the basic set of new technologies behind the idea of “</span><strong style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.84);">Progressive Web Apps</strong><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.84);">” (PWAs). </span>" — Maximiliano Firtman; Medium</p>

<p>As an iPhone user, the ability to purchase products directly from iMessage is just a cheap attempt to keep users locked into the platform. I can't see a good justification to be participating in commerce over SMS. </p>

<p>This is good step by Apple in possitive direction by releasing iOS 11.3. Now users can finally enjoy MovieBox and <a href="https://jailbreaknerds.com/emus4u-for-ios-11-11-3.html&quot; target="_blank">Emus4u</a> on iOS 11.3.</p>
