Am I old if I don't see the need for that?</p><p><br></p><p>I like that the Surface Pro X still has a surface connector, great move for backwards compatibility.</p><p><br></p><p>I also like the idea of the neo and the duo, but am waiting for real world reviews before I will make up my mind if I these will be a success or bust. The tiny keyboard is not exciting me, they need to come up with something larger, maybe folding, if they don't want to mess with my FLOW.</p><p>And I wish the gap between the screens was smaller, or even better seamless. The way it is right now, they have to do a lot of OS trickery to make this work, it looked good on the demo, but the apps and the OS clearly had some very specific features for this. And good luck watching a video full dual screen, that will not be a good experience. Folding screen devices are better for this once they have the kinks worked out.</p><p><br></p><p>If the duo is really and Android device, just with a MS launcher, and not based on Windows 10X, then I don't see the point of MS building this. Samsung and other Android device makers are better suited for this.</p>

So the emoji part is showing the soft-keyboard, but there's an actual small hardware keyboard in that image too?</p><p><br></p><p>Edit: Nevermind, found this quote in another article: "Surface Neo even comes with an actual hardware keyboard that lets you turn the device into an actual laptop, without needing you to type on the display. There isn’t a trackpad, though."</p><p><br></p><p>So, ok. I like that.</p>

This device is significantly more compelling than I had originally assumed when it showed up in the rumor mill. The way the magnetic keyboard works is fairly clever. </p><p><br></p><p>The emoji keyboard isn’t significantly interesting to me since I’m an old man, but that is a display area. The ability for it to essentially be a huge version of the Touch Bar and have some trackpad functionality too is pretty cool. </p>

That is nice…I was hoping the magnets would support that; because having the trackpad area above would be a bit weird. Probably not crippling or anything, but I'd rather the hardware keyboard be above the trackpad functional area.</p>

Premium MemberLog in to Reply<p>Everything looks pretty great. The Dou looks a little too wide, and with no camera, not likely to replace my phone. I can definitely see it replacing my iPad Mini though, as long as it has some kind of surface pen support. </p>

They can keep all the cameras inside, keep the outside looking extremely sharp, zero bumps, etc. and once you want to take a picture its a quick fold and snap away. </p><p><br></p><p>Also, it is wide, but it looked much smaller and easily handled in his hands, vs the woman's in the video. The way he handled it and pocketed it after he was done in his back pocket looked natural and without issue. Mostly everyone I know complained at one point or another about every version of the note getting bigger and bigger and how "stupid" people looked with that slab on their face. This looks shorter, and yes, while being wider wont look any less stupid ;)</p>

I have few durability concerns for the Duo or Neo. </p><p><br></p><p>I still feel these foldable and dual screen phones are a solution looking for a problem, but having a device more versatile than is traditional seems interesting for sure. </p>

The actual devices in a years time will likely be packed with more features than these early prototypes and hopefully will have some amazing camera tech too :-)</p>

Log in to Reply<p>The Neo and Duo both should make some things easier than a single screen device, plus some added functionality with the different "postures". Is it worth the price for these devices? We will find out. I like the idea of a high end Microsoft Phone. Maybe once they get more WCOS devices on the market, they will add a WCOS phone with the ability to run Win32, Android, PWA, and UWP apps. That would definitely get my attention, although I personally wouldn't be running any Win32 apps, I don't really today when not at work.</p>

This looks much better, although compared to previous Natural and the Surface Ergonomic, the keys looks oddly placed at first glance, with the smooth lines.</p>
