Surface Go 2, Headphones 2, and Earbuds are Now Available

Most of the Surface hardware that Microsoft announced last week is now available for purchase. Surface Book 3 is coming May 21, and the new Surface Dock 2 and Microsoft USB-C Travel Hub are arriving “later this month.”

“We hope these new products will not only help people be more productive from wherever they are currently working and learning, but also help people find moments of focus and relaxation,” Microsoft corporate vice president Robin Seiler wrote in the announcement last week. “With our most complete Surface portfolio ever, we have devices and accessories to meet a broad set of needs.”

As you may recall, Surface Go 2 is a minor revision to its predecessor, but with one big change: An optional Core m3 processor choice that provides an acceptable level of performance. Surface Go 2 starts at $399, but it doesn’t come with a Type Cover or Surface Pen.

Surface Headphones 2 is likewise a minor revision to its predecessor, and it offers improved sound quality and battery life, plus an updated ear cup design that supports 180 degrees of rotation. It now comes in a black color option as well. They cost $249.

Announced last fall with the previous wave of Surface hardware, Surface Earbuds now cost $50 less than promised, or $199, and provide touch controls, Omnisonic sound, screen-free integration with Microsoft 365, and all-day battery life with a bundled wireless charging case.

Note that availability varies by region. The new hardware is available in select markets now and will roll out to all Surface markets in the coming months, Microsoft says. Microsoft also revealed that it will be bringing Surface to Mexico and South Africa later this year for the first time.
