Spotify has been investing quite a lot on social features lately. The company recently introduced the ability to listen along with your friends, and it’s now working on a new way to help you discover music through your Spotify friends.
The music streaming service is working on a new feature called Tastebuds, which was spotted as early as October of this year by tech blogger Owen Williams, and recently resurfaced thanks to Jane Manchun Wong.

The new feature can be accessed via open.spotify.com/tastebuds on the web, but it is not functional at all for the time being. Tastebuds is a way for users to discover music through friends “whose taste you trust,” says the webpage.
Spotify hasn’t focused on social music features in the past — the company only has a Friend Activity on the desktop app where you can see what your friends are listening to, but on the mobile, there’s practically no way to track what your friends are listening to. Apple Music, on the other hand, has had a couple of social features from day 1.

And as it turns out, Spotify might finally hit back with the new Tastebuds feature which could be a great way to track what your friends are listening to and expand your own library.
