For building a new gaming PC with one Nvidia RTX, the 30xx series is great. However, if one needs the speed of 2x 2080 TI (SLI) for either 3D gaming or deep learning, everything is unclear. Is 3080 fast enough? Is 3090 fast enough? If 3080 allowed SLI, it would be easy: just get 2x 3080 (SLI). While 2x 3090 (SLI) would be fast enough, it is also prohibitively expensive at $3077 (for just the cards and SLI bridge plus VAT). So is the best solution to buy 2x 2080 used and wait for that until the prices become reasonable ($400 each given that a faster new 3070 is only $499)? We need to await independent benchmarks for a) gaming and b) deep learning.
