Thurrott.com auto renew?

So my credit card was just billed for $64 for Blue Whale Web and I couldn’t for the life of me place it right away. It finally hit me… Thurrott.com. I signed up for Alpha at the introductory rate last September, and I saw the option to renew in June/July (forget exactly when) but I figured I would let it lapse since, while I appreciate what Paul and Brad do, I didn’t really want to spend the money on the subscription at this time.

Perhaps shame on me for not reading/understanding, but I was under the impression that my premium subscription would just end and that would be the end of it. So here I am, $64 in the hole and wondering what to do… So I logged into thurrott.com and now there’s an option for me to upgrade to premium… wait.. what?? wasn’t that what the $64.00 was for?

Paul/Brad, can you guys help me figure this out? Did anyone else have this issue? Am I premium? Am I misremembering (quite possible) that Alpha members kept the original price, or was that only if you reupped? Which doesn’t make sense to me now since it was.. or seems to be an autorenewal…

At this point, I’m willing to stay on another year, but I’m going to go back and read agreement again. Can anyone shed any light on this?

*edit* So I just looked a little more, and it seems that the order is on hold/processing, but I’m currently no longer a premium member…because it expired…. but it auto renewed… but only after it expired… I think…

I'm afraid most subscription services are auto renew. When I subscribe to a one off payment to cover 12 months I immediately go into the settings and turn off auto renew.

Contact support directly, the link is at the top of the page where you log in.

I've reached out to some folks so we can figure this out. Sorry for any confusion, and I'm not sure what's happening exactly. But we do send out several emails before renewing as well. You should be contacted soon.

This is a very important topic for us and I want to make sure you get the right answer from our support staff as I cant fully look into your account transactions.

Thanks!

Brad

Thanks everyone, logged in this morning and it seems that my status is back to premium. So maybe I just caught the window between renewal and not renewal. I'll follow up with support. Hopefully it helps squash a bug or fix something.
