Tip of the week: Beneath a Surface

I’ve finally finished editing Brad’s book. And it’s shipping next week.

Also: The best deals from Microsoft’s Black Friday sale.

App pick of the week: Microsoft Launcher

Microsoft’s last major release of Microsoft Launcher in 2018 brings Sticky Notes and Microsoft To-Do integration, screen time tracking, Cortana commute/traffic and multi-destination capabilities, and more.

Enterprise pick of the week: Microsoft buys FSLogix

MS is increasingly serious about virtualizing Office apps, which is a good thing. Now they’ve bought a company to help them make Office virtualization work even better.

Enterprise pick of the week No. 2: Cognitive services are now in containers (near you)

Microsoft is really taking this whole AI and intelligent edge thing up a notch with previews of some of its cognitive services already loaded into containers.

Beer pick of the week: Goose Island Bourbon County Stouts

Tomorrow (day after Thanksgiving) is the day for the annual release of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. There are a number of different varieties – something for everyone. I haven’t had the 2018 vintage, but if they’re like recent years, they’ll be big, boozy and tasty.

So Paul is bitching about Windows 10 quality issues for the 7th week in a row now? What does he think he's achieving with this bitch fest?

Paul – You spoke at length about boot camp on an Apple Laptop and the inability to get windows 10 to boot up. Why in the world use boot camp? Any serious Mac user that wants to run Windows will use Parallels. I've used it since 2009 with no problems.
