Tip of the week: Pay for what matters
It’s amazing what you can get for free on the Internet, but that doesn’t entitle you to get everything for free. You should pay for the utility and content that matters most to you.
App pick of the week: LastPass
LastPass just enraged users by limiting how the free version service works. Whatever: LastPass Premium is cheap, and if this is important to you, you should pay for it.
Developer pick of the week: Dapr 1.0
Microsoft’s open-sourced Distributed Application Runtime (Dapr) has hit the 1.0 milestone. This is all about building distributed, cloud-native applications and microservices. Beyond that… Ask Mark Russinovich ? There’s a free ebook all about Dapr for .NET devs, too.
Codename pick of the week: Atlas
Atlas is azure’s shared serverless container platform that supports running hostile multitenant container workloads. Atlas platform influences the fundamental building blocks of compute( service fabric, containers), networking(SDN stack, Service Mesh), storage(Microdisks, ACR) as we drive towards the goal of making containers a fundamental primitive in Azure.
Beer pick of the week: Maine Second Dinner
Maine Beer has several “whales” (hard-to-get/coveted) beers. One of these is Maine Second Dinner, which is a double IPA. The beer itself isn’t crazy: It’s got Amarillo, Citra, Idaho 7 hops and comes in at 8%. But it’s very well-made – pineapple flavor, noticable resin/malt. And like all whales, not easy to find.
