New Indoor, Wired Nest Cam is Now Available

Google announced today that the 2nd-generation indoor, wired version of its Nest Cam is now available for purchase at the Google Store and select retailers.

“Meet the second-generation Nest Cam (indoor, wired), a wired camera that helps you keep track of what’s going on inside your home and matches your unique interior décor,” Google’s Andy Hengel writes in the announcement post. “The new Nest Cam has 10 times more machine learning power than the previous generation, enhanced HDR video quality, and processes events on-device, which makes for more accurate and timely alerts.”

The new indoor, wired Nest Cam also provides people, animal, and vehicle detection, three hours of event video history, Activity Zones creation capabilities without requiring a subscription. It also includes local storage backup so that it will keep recording if the Wi-Fi goes down and then upload clips to the Google Home app when connectivity is restored.

The new indoor, wired Nest Cam starts at $99.99 and it comes in four colors, Snow, Linen, Fog, and Sand the latter of which comes with a maple wood base and costs $119.99.

    <p>I think the prices are inline or better than previous but maybe that is because I bought out door 4k version 1 1/2 years ago at about $300 each. Got to say they work great.</p>
