So I inherited a lot of family mementos after my mom’s passing years ago. So I want to catalog the items package them up and put them into storage. I would like to make some kind of database so that it can be shared with family who can then search the database and find items they might want to lay claim to or provide history about the item.
So I started a Microsoft Access database to do this. However, it looks like Microsoft has given up on Access and it’s on its way out. Or at least there is no Online Office 365 version. So I would like to create a database where I can log the items name, location (storage box), include an image. I would like to build it in my Office 365 (University) or equivalent to Home version for easy sharing. I already share a lot of family photos this way. Any suggestion on what to do.
What would you create to do this?
Any help is much appreciated.
So we have Chrome on iOS which is not Chrome but in fact the Safari browser engine and Google has built its own browser user interface for that connects to Google services but its still running the same code as Safari.
We have Edge, Firefox and other browsers on Android that are in fact built on Google's Chrome engine.
Why can't Google build Chrome UI on the Edge engine? Is Microsoft locking it down not allowing third parties to customize their own Edge engine user interface? Are is Google just trying to kill Windows 10 S for Android or Chrome Devices. Could it be that Edge is still too new for Google to do this and they want to but Microsoft is keeping W10S so locked down and crippled because of Edge's youth and underdevelopment? Why can't Google's engine be allowed into W10S? Ok W10S is so new I get "why build an app for it no one knows if the W10S it will gain traction and survive. I get that too but why not put your app in the Microsoft Store? Does Microsoft charge for "free" app? Why isn't Chrome (todays version) not in the Microsoft Store for standard W10 Home and W10 Pro? Would it not be safer coming from the store?
To me the optics looks like Microsoft is trying to bring its services to everyone's platform Edge, Outlook, Office, OneDrive, Cortana and yet everyone is doing their best to not return the favor. Is it just optics? I do see that you cant have Google's assistant, Alexa or even Siri replace Cortana on W10.
I know I am answering my own questions a bit here but I would like analysis form smarter people.
Today marks 1 years since the Surface Dial was released/announced.
Did you buy one?
How do you use yours?
What apps do you use it with?
I bought a Surface Dial for my SP4 and had high hopes but alas it looks like developers don't know how to incorporate this into their apps.
I would still like a version 2 with a touch top like the **cough** ipod classic touch wheel with easier audio buttons like next track etc.
So I live just north east of where Hurricane Harvey is making landfall in Houston. However I have always wanted to buy some kind of back up battery power and was wondering what others have bought. My plan is to have something that can keep the modem up and maybe provide power for small tablets cell phones. I live in a condo/town-home so buying the whole home generator is out of the question. I just want something to keeps things going for a couple of hours. Suggestions?
Yes this is a rant. So I have read/watched the tear down reviews from ifixit on the Surface Pro (2017) and the Surface Laptop. I was already let down with the fact the devices did not have a modern USB type C connector but when I read their tear down reviews I was horrified and appalled at the fact that they made the choice to make the hard drive non removable. Yes Folk you cannot replace the hard drive on either of the two devices. This is by far the dumbest mistake Microsoft has made in my opinion since removing the Start button on Windows 8. I do hope that they receive enough push back from users that they quickly change this mistake and release another version within the next year and not multiple years. This is supposed to be a pro devices not that cheap $70 tablets they keep on trying to pawn off on us at the Microsoft Store. I mean come on what happens if the mother board that everything is soldered to goes out. How can a IT department recover the data. So I have to go and tell my executive who had to have the red one with carpet keyboard that their data is all gone! FRIED! More like your FIRED!
I will be telling any one who ask me if you want a Surface buy the Surface Pro 4 and skip the new models or buy the knock off versions.
Did some high up at Microsoft saying the devices were built for future ? Well not if you need to repair them. Make sure you buy the extended warranty your going to need it are you may WannaCry. And forget upgrading thats a thing of the past.
Here is the best quote from their articles.
“Yeah, Microsoft impressed us—by being way worse than we expected.“
Surface Laptop ifixit.
Surface Pro (2017)
Microsoft I hate you right now,
Proud owner of a Surface Pro 4.
Has anyone experienced OneDrive forgetting the selected folders to downloand just out all of a sudden its just downloads all of your onedrive and fills your hard drive?
That happen to me today and I realized what happen during an important event thanks MS!
It downloaded all of my Photos/Vidoes which are Gigs of data.
I am using Windows 10 Creators Update version 1703 OS build 15063.296 on a Surface Pro 4
Now I am trying to just remove my OneDrive and re-set it up and it wont let me disconnect.
Do you own a touchscreen pc and wish you had the capabilities to pause the touch screen so you can clean it without starting a program. I think if they were to add a Action Center button would be great. Can you help upvote this feature in the feedback hub? I was not the person who created it but boy I wish we had this.
So I have scoured the internet world looking for the Holy Grail looking for a Bluetooth mouse. One that is full size not a mini mouse made the hands of a pre-teen but a manly mouse. Everything I find requires a USB dongle.
I love Logitech mouses and keyboards but they do not have them in Bluetooth all of them use that Logitech USB unifying receiver. With the limitation of Surface devices only having 1 USB port (SERIOUSLY MS!) that is troubling when you need to attach your storage device or a mouse.
I really want a mouse like the Logitech Wireless Marathon Mouse M705 that is sculpted for the hand.
Have you seen big foot out their on the inter-webs?
