    Macbook Air with PC-based dock?

Hi, I have an excellent HP Thunderbolt dock G2 120W (that Paul reviewed a while back) that I use daily with a work-supplied HP Elitebook. Its plugged into all the usual things - headset, webcam, twin Dell monitors, ethernet, Microsoft keyboard & mouse. My partner prefers Apple products, and is wondering whether a Macbook Air with thunderbolt port would successfully dock with everything on this setup? I've never used Macbooks at all, so could do with some guidance. And I suspect this is a fairly common scenario in lots of households where people are working from home. Thanks for any advice.

A better way to pay for Premium...

I've been following Paul for about 15 years, however, I'm really busy, and months can go by between visits to this site, at which point I will catch up and read a number of articles. I originally had a Premium account, but canceled it because I wasn't using it enough I'd like to be able to pay-as-i-go - paying a small amount to access each premium article for example, or a small amount to access the premium site for a day. Is this something that could be considered for people like me who are very light users, but would still like to access and support the site?

    Edge - major flaw

I somehow stumbled across a “bad” website that is putting up a fake malware warning, and stopping me getting to any other tab on Edge.

I crashed Edge deliberately, but when it restarts, it automatically reopens the tabs, including the one which caused the problem.

This is a BIG design flaw.  Chrome lets you restore your tabs if you choose – but you can elect not to.

How could they screw this up so badly?

This web post sums it all up nicely - https://blog.malwarebytes.com/cybercrime/2015/09/regaining-control-over-edge/

Xbox 360 streaming music off a Windows 10 PC

    Hi,

I work in IT, I'm a developer, but this has defeated me.

I have a WIndows 10 desktop PC with my music on it.  I have an Xbox 360 that I'm in no rush to replace.  They are on the same network, in the same room.  I want to use the "old" xbox music player to play music from the PC but I can't.  It comes up and says it can't find any albums/songs.  The xbox can see the PC, but the PC doesn't seem to see the xbox... the relevant built in Firewall settings appear to be setup to let the xbox through.

Any advice please, or tests I can do?

    Thanks,

    - Rob

Nexus 5 replacement for October 2016

    Hi,

I want a "pure Google" replacement for my Nexus 5, but the Pixel, although ideal, is too expensive at £599.  I never bough the 5X because of the poor battery life - which is a priority for me.

My shortlist just now is just a Oneplus 3 (£329).  But are there others I'm missing?

I feel like Google is taking a step backwards in terms of getting their pure Google message out there.  I got a new Samsung A5 2016 phone at work recently.  Its a beautiful phone, but the customisations to Android are awful, confusing and unncecessary.  I installed Google Now Launcher which helped a bit though.

I dont think this is just me asking, there must be lots of others feeling the same today.
