Windows 10 20H1 Heads to the Slow Ring

Today, Microsoft released its first Windows 10 version 20H1 build to the Slow ring, marking a major milestone.

Windows 10 build 19013 first arrived in the Fast ring on October 29, adding additional kaomoji characters and memory improvements to Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) 2. Since then, Microsoft has updated this build several times: On November 1, it released an updated version of the build, 19013.1000 (KB4528332), with no changes or fixes. And on November 4, it released a second updated version of the build, 19013.1102, which included a fix for a Remote Desktop crash.

Both of those revisions were issued t the Fast ring. What makes today’s build update, 19013.1122, unique is that it’s heading to the Slow ring. This is the first Windows 10 build to do so; previously, Slow ring Insiders were testing Windows 10 version 19H2. So it’s possible, if not highly likely, that 19H2 will start shipping broadly tomorrow (Tuesday), as it’s Patch Tuesday.

One final note: Kudos to the Windows Insider team for issuing a new blog post about this release and not updating the old post as they have in the past. That’s the right way to do this, and it’s appreciated.
