Windows 10 Version 1909 Now on One-Third of PCs

According to the latest data from AdDuplex, Windows 10 version 1909 is now in use on 33.4 percent of all Windows 10-based PCs.

“[Windows 10 version 1909] added about 5 percentage points to its [usage] share since last month,” the latest AdDuplex report notes, adding that its data is based on a survey of roughly 100,000 Windows 10 PCs.

Combined, the 2019 releases of Windows 10—versions 1903 and 1909—now account for 82.6 percent of all Windows 10 PCs in use. Oddly, that’s down from last month, when the two versions accounted for 78.9 percent. Looking at the numbers, you can see that’s due to PCs being upgraded to newer versions: Usage in version 1903 as a percentage went down as 1909 usage went up, but overall usage of all older versions went down as well.

For the third month in a row, AdDuplex declined to discuss Surface PC usage, but this time without an explanation. In March, the firm said that Surface model usage hadn’t really changed since January, indicating that the new products—Surface Laptop 3, Surface Pro 7, and Surface Pro X, haven’t been selling particularly well.

But we’re on the verge of a new round of Surface releases, with Surface Go 2 and Surface Book 3 expected any time now. Despite its many obvious problems, Surface Go appeared to sell reasonably well, so perhaps its sequel will do well too.
