The amazing game "Valiant Hearts: The Great War" is now available on Windows 10 for PCs and Mobile, just the latest in a growing list of top shelf games to hit the Universal Windows Platform (UWP). This game was one of my Windows Weekly picks last year on Xbox One, and is one of the best new games of the past several years. "Immerse yourself in the touching story of four unsung heroes swept up by World War 1 in this unique interactive graphic novel that combines action, puzzles and adventure," the game description notes. "Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a 4-part, episodic game inspired by letters from World War 1." To be clear, the game is free but only provides a part of the first of four episodes. You can pay 99 cents in-game to get all of Episode 1, and then pay $2.99 per remaining episodes. Or just pay $6.99 to get the whole thing, which I recommend. Indeed, there's so much to recommend here. It's got a great story. As the quote above notes, this game is based on actual letters written home from the front in World War I, and it's got real heart. It's worth playing just for the story. Excellent presentation. The game's cartoon graphics are stylish and beautiful, and really pull you in. I actually used still frames from this game as Windows desktop wallpapers for a while. The music is amazing as well. Gameplay. The game is a mixture of exploration, puzzle solving, and the occasional action set piece. It's a nice mix. Educational. Interspersed throughout the game are educational articles that will help you better understand World War I. So you can learn while you play, a rare treat. Folks, "Valiant Hearts: The Great War" is the real deal. As noted, I made this game one of my picks of the week on Windows Weekly when it was on the Xbox One, and I strongly recommend it on Windows 10---and Windows 10 Mobile, which is amazing---if you've not just tried it. Just grab the free version and see what you think. "Valiant Hearts: The Great War" is available now from the Windows Store.
