Microsoft Cuts $200 Off the Surface Laptop for Cyber Monday

For Black Friday, Microsoft sold the Xbox One S at its lowest price ever. The company offered discounts across the broad, bringing the price of the Harman Kardon Invoke Cortana speaker to only $99, and offering $329 off one of the Surface Pro variants. For Cyber Monday, Microsoft is cutting $200 off the Surface Laptop.

All variants of the Surface Laptop — yes, all variants — are now discounted by $200. The entry-level model of the Surface Laptop (which comes only in Platinum) is now selling for only $799, while the Burgundy, Graphite Gold, Burgundy, and Cobalt Blue models are going for $1,099 (usually $1,299). That’s a pretty sweet deal for the device, as you are getting the Intel Core i5 processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It is the 7th gen processor though, so keep that in mind.

For those who prefer the Surface Pro, you can now save $200 when buying the device’s Intel Core i5 variant with 128GB storage for $799. Along with the Surface Pro, Microsoft is cutting $50 off Windows Mixed Reality headsets from Samsung, Acer, and Dell. The headsets from Lenovo and HP are off by $100 as well. As usual, there are a number of other sales for partner devices, mostly on devices from Dell’s Inspiron and XPS lines.

And yes, the Harman Kardon Invoke is still going for $99 — it’ll be interesting to see if Microsoft ends up making it a permanent discount for the speaker, which is very expensive at its usual price of $199. Anyway, make sure you to checkout all the Cyber Monday deals on the Microsoft Store here.

<p>As I've been catching up on all of my TV shows on my DVR, I've noticed alot of commercials for Surface . It reminds me of the days with Windows Phone when Microsoft advertised the hell out of it with so many commercials and product placements within TV shows. It'll be very interesting to see if this strategy will finally payoff for the company.</p>

<p>The strategy behind the Surface Laptop remains murky. If the goal is to promote UWP apps then allowing a free upgrade to Windows Pro undermines that goal. At $200 off is it a good deal for a Windows Pro PC? I don't know. I suspect that MS would sell more of them if they had marketed it as Surface Laptop Pro with Windows Pro pre-installed.</p>

<p>"It is the 7th gen processor though, so keep that in mind." Paul, the so called 8th gen Intel chips are no different from the 7th gen chips, you should know better. The 10nm chips don't really come out until 2018, and we won't see a new microarchitecture until 2019.</p>
