Surface Laptop owners have a firmware update to look forward to today. But this one isn’t about Spectre and Meltdown. Instead, it focuses on battery reliability improvements.
“Today we’ve released a new firmware update for Surface Laptop,” Microsoft’s Brandon Records writes. “This update includes new firmware for Surface System Aggregator Firmware which improves battery reliability.”
According to the Surface Laptop Updates page on Microsoft’s website, Surface – Firmware – 135.2114.3.0 improves battery stability. As Mr. Records noted, it focused on reliability, and not battery life. (Or other “value indicators,” like security, connectivity, compatibility, or performance.)
I am seeing this update on my Surface Laptop, so you should be able to get it normally via Windows Update. But you can also acquire it manually as part of the Surface Laptop Drivers and Firmware download set.
Nice to see all of these end-points for Surface Laptop being updated both immediately and at the same time. That doesn’t usually happen.
